Internet broadband ADSL in MTT

Internet broadband is very fast in Muang Thong Thani, much faster than most (if not all) other parts of Bangkok. This is be because MTT is right in the middle of a leading internet technology corridor, with Software Park (good map, scroll down their page) right on the corner of MTT, together with Thailand internet giants Jasmine International and KSC (first private ISP in Thailand in 1995), and on the other side of MTT is the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT), the monopoly international link provider, located just a few kilometers away on Chaeng Wattana Rd.

You can get a 1 mbps (megabit per second) connection via True for less than 1000 baht ($33) per month, and True provides connections up to 4 mbps to residences. We've also set up leased circuits for very high speed corporate broadband.

Just a few doors down from us, maybe 20 meters, is a company which downloads movies from overseas via internet and dubs them into Thai for the cable TV companies.

A little further than that are other multimedia and animation companies hooked up to broadband.

They ... and we ... wouldn't be here if there weren't exceptionally good broadband!

All these companies and the CAT are in northeast Nonthaburi, like MTT. It all started with the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT) and the first private internet service provider (ISP) in Thailand in 1995, Knowledge Services Center (KSC), both setting up in Laksi, with is a small subdistrict (maybe 2 km wide) on the eastern border of MTT just a few kilometers from our office. On the western border of MTT is the Software Park skyscraper, and across the street from that is Jasmine International in its own skyscraper, one of the biggest internet companies of all. So MTT is right in the middle.

Naturally, the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT), which has been spearheading the domestic broadband programs for years, is located next door to CAT in Laksi, again right down the road from us.

(Going north of MTT (opposite the Bangkok central business district, which is way south), much further out into suburbia, is NECTEC in Pathum Thani, traditionally the leading computer technology and communications R&D center for Thailand. Out there is also the Asia Institute of Technology, the modern new Shinawatra University, and other Pathum Thani high tech stuff.)

Muang Thong Thani is a great place to get an economical office or condominium, or house.
